Meta deepens fintech push in India with seamless prepaid recharge feature inside WhatsApp

WhatsApp has taken another major step in expanding its financial services ecosystem in India by introducing in-app prepaid mobile recharge functionality. The feature allows users to recharge their mobile numbers directly within the app, eliminating the need to switch between multiple platforms.

With this update, users can browse prepaid plans and recharge connections from Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea seamlessly.

The rollout is currently being phased across Android and iOS devices and is expected to be available to all users in India over the coming weeks. This move significantly simplifies everyday transactions by bringing a high-frequency use case directly into a widely used messaging platform.

PayU Integration Enables Smooth Transactions

The recharge service is powered by PayU, ensuring secure and frictionless payment processing. The integration reflects the growing trend of embedding financial services within digital ecosystems where users already spend most of their time.
