Family offers precious gold ornament at Mata Bajreshwari Temple during special prayer visit
A devotee from Pune has donated a 100-gram gold necklace worth nearly rs.16 lakh to the revered Mata Bajreshwari Temple in Kangra district, temple authorities confirmed on Friday.
The offering was made by Vinod N Sharma and his family members, who travelled from Maharashtra to seek blessings and perform special prayers at the temple. According to officials, the gold necklace was presented for the ceremonial bed of the Goddess as part of a devotional offering.
The donation has drawn attention among devotees and local residents due to its religious significance and estimated value.
Special Religious Visit by Family From Maharashtra
Temple officials stated that the family visited the temple earlier this week to offer prayers and participate in religious rituals.
Shivali Thakur, a temple official, said the gold necklace was formally handed over to the temple administration on Wednesday. The ornament weighs approximately 100 grams and is estimated to be worth around ₹16 lakh based on prevailing gold prices.
Officials said the family expressed deep faith in the deity and undertook the journey specifically to make the offering and seek divine blessings.
Mata Bajreshwari Temple Holds Major Spiritual Significance
The Mata Bajreshwari Temple is one of the most prominent and historically significant Hindu temples in Himachal Pradesh.
Dedicated to Goddess Vajreshwari, the temple is considered one of the important Shakti Peethas in Hindu tradition and attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year from different parts of India.
Located in the scenic Kangra Valley, the temple is known not only for its religious importance but also for its architectural heritage and cultural significance.
Gold Offerings Reflect Deep Devotional Traditions
Offering gold ornaments and valuable donations at major temples remains a long-standing spiritual tradition followed by devotees across India.
Many pilgrims donate jewellery, precious metals, or cash after fulfilling vows, overcoming personal difficulties, or seeking blessings for family prosperity and well-being.
Temple authorities generally preserve such donations for religious use, treasury reserves, temple maintenance, or future development projects depending on institutional policies.
Experts say these offerings often reflect the deep emotional and spiritual connection devotees maintain with sacred religious sites.
Religious Tourism Continues to Boost Himachal Pradesh
Temples across Himachal Pradesh continue to attract a growing number of pilgrims and tourists, contributing significantly to the state’s spiritual tourism economy.
Destinations such as Kangra, Chintpurni, Jwala Ji, and Naina Devi witness heavy footfall throughout the year, especially during festivals and religious occasions.
Religious tourism has emerged as an important source of economic activity in the region, supporting local businesses, hotels, transport services, and cultural activities.
Officials believe increasing pilgrim visits and donations also help strengthen temple infrastructure and preserve religious heritage sites.
Faith and Tradition Continue to Draw Devotees Nationwide
The latest donation once again highlights the enduring role of faith and temple traditions in Indian society, where devotees from different regions travel long distances to seek spiritual fulfilment and express gratitude through offerings.
As pilgrim movement continues to rise across major religious centres in India, temples such as Mata Bajreshwari Temple remain important centres of devotion, culture, and community connection.
